Powder Blue and Pink Wedding Inspiration | Featuring Lela New York Luxury Wedding invitations

I'm loving the Blues in the bridal runway! Makes for great wedding inspiration! Today I am featuring a powder blue and pink color inspiration featuring Lela New York's letterpress wedding invitations we recently created for a city bride. Raquel and Henry met when they were in grade school in NYC and wanted to create their invitations with a NYC theme. The result was just a lovely combo of sweet and chic! And the color combo of powder blue and pink is so fresh! What do you guys think?

Enjoy!

Friday Frocks | Ines di Santo | Lela's Favorite Wedding Dresses & Picts from the runway | Bridal Market

I loved Ines di Santo's Fall 2012 Bridal Collection! It shined! Literally! For her Fall/Winter 2012 collection, Ines Di Santo was inspired by some of the most fashionable women of style on and off the camera that stepped out in bright, chic and memorable gowns. Ines envisioned her dream designs for noteworthy women of style that epitomized sophisticated elegance. With heavy emphasis on high quality lace fabrics, the collection mixes contemporary looks with traditional lace to create modern luxury couture.

With a level of style befitting the silver screen, runway or aisle, Ines' newest bridal collection is so glam!

Enjoy!

Thursday Trend Day | The Social Craze broken down

With social media ever changing and expanding I thought today I will break some down that will actually help you get to know your favorite wedding experts and even help you organize your wedding ideas in one place!

First off, The website, obviously don't have to over this one. We all know that is the first place we look at when getting to know our wedding vendors and what they have to offer but there's more! Next, there is their blog, yes I know duh, your on mine now ;) but many of your photographers and other vendors may not have a big blog dedicated to all things NYC weddings like us ;) but you can see many of their new wedding photography on their blog. It is usually updated more often than their websites and you can get a feeling of their latest work.
Of course you can also visit wedding experts on their Facebook page too. Many wedding experts choose to update this page most of all and even have sneak peaks into other great deals. Wedding blogs such as us ;) usually give our Facebook fans advance notice on specials and giveaways so they are always in the know. You can also share with your friends on Facebook images and posts from directly on their page. And n ow their is a new feature where you can message us directly on FB.

Now, this is new, instagram! Most of you, if you've been reading the latest blogs, know about this already. It is my favorite so far :) I just love it. It's an iPhone and now android based app that is based on images that people share with just a small comment below on each image. It's SO fun! I share more of my life on instagram including my little pup, Matisse! I love him. Plus, I like to share my latest invitations, and front views on the bridal runway shows. And there are cute vintage filters you can use on your photos. You might have seen it already on your Facebook since you can share the images there as well. They are square images and have a vintage look. You can really get to know a persons personality through what images they share.

Ok now this is exciting! Pinterest! Many have already followed me and pinned our blog and website on Pinterest. You basically can signup for it and download a small code that shows up on your browsers tool bar. It is labeled "Pin It" and that is what you do while you browse the web. You can go on your favorite blogs, wedding sites and vendors websites and pin any inspiration you want to save. Pin away! And it will neatly save that info on your pinterest. You can save them in separate "boards" too. No more saving images in random folders on your desktop and not knowing where they came from. Everything is organized and so simple. Everything you pinned can be clicked on and you know exactly where it was from. AMAZING! There is also a cool site called Lover.ly that is pinterest for weddings.

So you maybe saying, "ok now I have signed up for all these social platforms how is anybody suppose to know about it?" Well, they have a new site for that ;) It's called Aboutme.com It's like a digital calling/social card. It has a pretty clean look and you can upload any image you want. It lists all your social media that you belong to and includes a little bio of yourself. And right now they are even offering free business cards or calling cards if you are using them socially with your info and very own site link. Cool huh?

So in conclusion don't run from all the social craze, use it! It may help your sanity at the end.
Well, maybe not ;) But it sure is fun!

A Look Ahead - Sarah and Eddie

Sarah and Eddie are getting married this November at River Stone Manor in Glenville. They set up a winter engagement shoot with their photographer, Matt Bailly of Bailly Photography, in their hometown of Brooklyn NY. I wasn't there for the shoot but from what I hear it was a crazy cold windy day, but you wouldn't notice these two were phased much by the cool (no pun intended) demeanor they kept during the shoot.

Sarah and Eddie will remain busy over the coming months with their wedding planning but you will see these two back on the blog over the winter when I post their full wedding day recap!

Photography: Dan Lecca
Photography: Dan Lecca

I'm in LOVE, I know I say that a lot but I nearly melted when I saw all the lovely color all over the bridal runways! The most dramatic were Vera Wang's Wedding dresses in Reds, Scarlets, and deep burgundies. I died! It went perfectly with the trends we, at Lela New York, have forecasted in our inspiration boards just last week! And with our luxury red and black invitations that we featured last week as well. :) Of course all the dresses do also come in whites and creams but for the daring fashionista or the romantic bride it may be THE ONE!
What do you think ladies would you dare? Do you love them as much as I do?!?

Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Hire a Wedding Planner

A colleague and wedding friend of mine asked me this week to contribute to a post he is putting up on his blog this week - the top 5 reasons why a couple should hire a wedding planner. After sending him my thoughts I figured it might also be helpful to post them here. So if you are reading this and on the fence about whether or not you need a planner hopefully this info will help:

  1. Weddings are a BIG DEAL and one of the most important moments in a couple's lives so far, if not the biggest moment. On top of the emotional investment there is also a substantial financial investment that goes into hosting a wedding celebration for your family and friends. This importance of this event should not be left up to chance, which is where a wedding planner comes in. As a planner I help my couples find the venue and vendors who are the best fit for them, I guide them through the design and decor decisions to bring their vision to reality, and I make sure there is no detail or piece of the planning that is missed or forgotten along the way. And one of the best parts of working with a planner is having a professional you can go to at any time with any question, no matter how big or small that question may be.
  2. Today's couples are very busy people, often working long hours and having additional commitments with graduate school, a second job, or family or community interests. Planning a wedding can seem like a 40-hour a week project and a lot of busy couples just don't have the time available to spend researching every option in the area for cakes or making sure they didn't miss any possibilities for local venues. A wedding planner is the wedding expert who can save couples tons of time and energy by presenting them with their best vendor options and cutting out all of that hefty research time. Most couples are amazed at how quickly they are able to find amazing vendors with my help and they know that they are booking a wedding professional they can trust and feel confident that they will do a fantastic job on their big day.
  3. Wedding planners can reduce a bride and groom's stress level big time! I can't tell you how many brides tell me that they are feeling pressure from a parent, a friend, or a guest in regards to something with the wedding. Or that there is drama brewing among the people they love because of the seating chart, the selection of bridesmaids, or aspects of the formality of the event. And some brides just don't feel as connected to certain members of their family and need a planner to step in not only as a hired vendor but also as a friend. There have been countless incidents where I have assisted my couples in smoothing out some kind of stress or potential drama just by talking it out with them and taking over some of the burden to release their pressure. This is one major reason why choosing the right planner is so important - you never know exactly what you will need them for!
  4. If you didn't think the Capital District/Adirondack area is a hot spot for destination events think again! The majority of my couples live out of state and are planning their wedding in the Albany/Saratoga/Lake George area. Most of them either grew up here, went to college here or vacationed here as kids and now want to return to this area to get married. When planning a destination event it can be really intimidating to try an do everything from far away. Hiring a wedding planner who works in the area gives you a local expert to connect you with all of the best resources this region offers. And with the help of modern technology so much of the wedding planning can be done through email, Skype, and texts so that the bride halfway across the country feels just as connected to her wedding here as a local bride would.
  5. Wedding planners are not only used for the full planning of an event, we are also utilized quite frequently as day-of wedding coordinators. Even if you want to plan your wedding yourself there is a moment along the way where you sit and wonder who is going to be responsible for all of the tiny details on your wedding day. It can't be you and it shouldn't be anyone in your bridal party and family, so a day-of wedding coordinator is the perfect vendor to take the reigns on your big day and allow you and your loved ones the opportunity to relax and stay engaged in the special moments. Day-of wedding coordination is the fastest growing segment of my business because the service is so vital and so invaluable. Ask any bride who decided to hire a coordinator and they will tell you it was easily the best investment they ever made!

I Got Married in A Hurricane | A New York Real Wedding

I LOVE this wedding photographed by the amazing Stylish Hip Weddings.
Can you imagine getting married during a hurricane here in NYC?!
Could it have come out any more beautiful!!!?!

Here is their story as told by Stylish Hip Weddings:
I got a call from the wonderful Leslie of Sage Events at around midnight on a Friday. She had a couple who was scheduled to get married at the Bronx Zoo on Saturday the fateful day of Hurricane Irene. Bronx Zoo cancelled but Lilya and Dan still wanted to get married that weekend so Leslie, their superstar caterer and wedding planner, put together the most beautiful wedding on Sunday at The Metropolitan Building in LIC, Queens. Lilya you are my hero for being the coolest, most patient, gracious and beautiful bride ever!
